Key concepts
Workflows, nodes, triggers, items, executions, credentials and expressions in one page.
Workflow
A set of connected nodes that runs from a trigger. Workflows are saved with a version number; each save that changes the steps creates a new version. See Create and run workflows.
Node
One step of a workflow. Each node receives data, does one job and passes data on. There are trigger nodes, data nodes (Edit Fields, Sort…), logic nodes (IF, Merge…), app nodes (Slack, Google Sheets…) and AI nodes.
Trigger
The node that starts a workflow: a click, a schedule, a webhook call, a form submission, a chat message, a new email and so on. Some triggers only work while the workflow is active. See Triggers.
Item
The unit of data that flows between nodes. A node outputs a list of items, and each item has a json object with your fields. Most nodes run once per item. See Items and data structure.
Execution
One run of a workflow. Triggerflow keeps each execution with every node's input and output, so you can see exactly what happened, retry it or debug it in the editor. See Executions.
Active and inactive
An inactive workflow only runs when you test it in the editor. An active workflow's triggers are live: schedules fire, webhooks and forms accept requests.
Credential
Saved login details for an app or API (an API key, a token, a database password). Credentials are encrypted and never shown again after saving; nodes refer to them by name. See Credentials.
Expression
A small piece of code between {{ }} in a node's settings that reads or computes a value, for example {{ $json.email }}. See Expressions.
Sub-workflow
A workflow that another workflow calls with Execute Workflow, like a function. See Loops and sub-workflows.
Organization
Your team's space in Triggerflow, with its members, workflows, credentials and plan. You can belong to several organizations and switch between them.
