Integrations
Receive and send WhatsApp messages with the official Cloud API.
Triggerflow works with the official WhatsApp Business Cloud API from Meta. It doesn't automate the WhatsApp phone app.
What you need
- A Meta developer app with WhatsApp added, and a business phone number.
- The number's phone number ID and a permanent access token, saved as a WhatsApp Business Cloud credential (for sending).
- Your app's App secret and a verify token of your choice, saved as a WhatsApp webhook credential (for receiving).
Receive messages
- Add a WhatsApp Trigger and choose the webhook credential.
- Activate the workflow.
- In Meta → WhatsApp → Configuration → Webhook, paste the trigger's production URL and your verify token, then subscribe to messages.
Each incoming message becomes an item with the sender's number (from), their name, the message text and its messageId. Triggerflow checks Meta's signature on every request, so nobody else can post to your workflow.
Send messages
The WhatsApp node sends text, images, documents, reply buttons, list menus and approved message templates. To reply in a conversation, use the sender's number and pass the incoming messageId to reply to it.
WhatsApp only allows free-form messages within 24 hours of the customer's last message. To message someone first, use a template approved by Meta.
Ideas
- An AI agent that answers customers, with memory keyed on the sender's number.
- Mobile money payments requested and confirmed in the chat.
- Approvals answered on WhatsApp.
The WhatsApp templates are a quick way to start.
